Sewing Lining in Skirt: Part I

Before you get started with the wizard for hand sewing the lining in skirts, you must have prepared the skirt by sewing transfer. When you spend time to sew the lining to the by hand, giving it also the most sense to you SEW this by hand, so that it will be invisible from the Court. I use most often hexesting to sew up, since I think they keep best track of transfer and are a little more long lasting than that under staffere transfer, which we often do in skrædderiet.

There are other methods than this guide to reach nearly the same result, but here I have given priority to an approach that works in the vast majority of skirts, and as syere on almost all levels can use in practice, without having a lot of experience with pattern development or hand sewing in advance. You are welcome to pick in the various steps of the wizard, and possibly. combine with other methods, you know in advance.

Hand sewing the lining in skirts – step 1

To this in gradphysics must be cut in the same length as skirt lined finished length. This means that you need to cut the lining without seam allowance/lay-up at the bottom. Do you have eg. 4 cm lay-up in the skirt, then lined 4 cm shorter than the fabric before you begin to sew.

If you are unsure about the length of your skirt, it might be a good idea to cut the fabric and lining at equal distances from the start, so you therefore starts with having substance enough for lay-up in the lining too. Then you can cut the lining to, when you find out how long the skirt must be.

You should preferably have 3-4 cm decommissioning, to sew the lining to the bottom after this method, but you are very accurate, you may also get it to succeed with 2, 5 cm lay-up. Do you need to lengthen the skirt so much that there is less than 2, 5 cm holding back, you should choose a different method to conclude it at the bottom.

Hand sewing the lining in skirts – step 2

This step is not part of the original technique I learned at school, but is a tailor I have added to make the procedure easier for you, who is not as experienced in handling before or to sew by hand.

Squeeze the bottom of the lined 1 cm on the courage inside. Pressure quite easy – it is a help pressing, and not a permanent fold, there should be here in the lining. So forget about sharp creases – here to be only just be a soft selection of the line.

Hand sewing the lining in skirts – step 3

Move the pressed edge of lined up to 2 cm from the bottom of the skirt, if you have 3 cm lay-up and 3 cm from the bottom, if you have 4 cm lay-up, and set lined fixed with pins. As written further up, I have 3 cm holding on this skirt, so here I put lined fast 2 cm from the bottom of the skirt.

Because you have cut slightly larger than the fabric lined, as described further up, do you have any extra width in the lining. It you must have distributed uniformly around the skirt. Start by placing the seams so that they are next to each other, and advantage gauge then. It’s going to be held to transfer so there will not be put or Wrinkly in the lining, and it’s fairly easy to do when you sew by hand, because you can control every single stitch.
